Tadashi ASOMA
spacer
Tadashi Asoma (1923-2017) moved from Japan to Paris in 1958 when he was offered a scholarship from the Japanese government to study painting. Interested in contemporary American art, Asoma subsequently moved the United States and studied at the Art Students League in NYC. Much of his work is inspired by the nature surrounding Garrison, NY, a small village where Asoma resided, reflecting the brilliant colors of the changing seasons. His canvases are marked with an astute use of bold color, texture, and pattern. In the mid-1990s Asoma returned to his home in Japan. Asoma has had solo exhibitions in New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Germany, and Switzerland, and his work is included in many public and corporate collections.
